Wolf Corp at The Mine

Wolf was founded in Fort Wayne Indiana in 1873, started by Paul Wolf, an enterprising orphan from Germany. Paul passed away in the early part of the 20th century. Two of his sons, Erwin and Robert continued his mattress and futon business and grew Wolf into what it is today. Wolf was founded in Fort Wayne Indiana in 1873, started by Paul Wolf, an enterprising orphan from Germany. Paul passed away in the early part of the 20th century. Two of his sons, Erwin and Robert continued his mattress and futon business and grew Wolf into what it is today. In the 1920's Erwin Wolf patented the method of edge anchoring the quilted top of a mattress that led to our success during the Great Depression and the Second World War. With the end of the war Erwin's sons, Richard and Donald joined the company and a new round of growth and change occurred. The old factory had grown from the farm operation to a large cluster of buildings still on the original site of what was by then downtown Fort Wayne.
