This is caused by a faulty temperature sensor in the freezer compartment. The sensor is telling the freezer that it is warm and needs cooling. So the compressor runs non-stop to freeze the freezer compartment. This causes ice to build up on the cooling fins. Then the automatic defroster which is a heater in the freezer compartment cannot melt the ice which has built up on the freezer fins. This ice continues to build up and completely blocks any air flow through the fins. Therefore there is no cold air to circulate to the refrigerator compartment.

Bought this fridge just over 1 year ago. Compressor is now shot and was quoted $900 to repair. Do not buy unless you want to add an extended warranty to the purchase price.

I purchased this fridge in 2013 and it has been pretty good to us for the last few years. In 2015, the upper hinge assembly broke which wasn''t a big deal as the part is readily available and very easy to replace. Shortly after this was fixed the center flap assembly between the double doors stopped working properly. It wouldn''t close when we closed the left door second. We had a repair tech come out to determine that a small spring within the flap had broken and it looked to have been from fatigue of opening and closing cycles. We soon found out that this spring (cost $2.50) is no longer available and you now have to purchase the whole center flap ($140). Fridge is descent but beware of the maintenance costs

My New Fridge

I purchased my Samsung French Door fridge 21.6 a few weeks ago. It works great and is everything I expected.
The ice maker works great, no more buying ice. It is so much easier to see all the food , fruit ,veggies, cheese without having to get down on your hands and knees to see the bottom. It has a really good size bottom freezer. I would recommend this fridge to anyone wanting to change to a French Door.

Bought this a month ago, without reading online reviews.
Brought it home, Lowes guys laid it down in my truck.
Got home and removed the old fridge to garage, moved the new one in, and unwrapped the excellent packing..
Waited 6 hours, not the recommended 24 hours, plugged it in, and this thing has run great.
The variable speed motor sounds different, but it''s very quiet..
Tried all the settings, no issues like the other reviews..

You have a negative review talking about how you had to disassemble your doorways. Solution to your issue: Get a tape measure...

Never buy a Samsung Fridge!!!
By from Maryville on May 04, 2014
I don''t know where to start...bought this fridge because of it''s depth and space. It performed great for amount 3 months. Soon, the ice maker went out, but everything else worked fine. Okay I thought, I''ll just call Samsung. Sent out a repairman 7 times over the course of 6 months. In this time the ice maker never worked again and the following problems started: 1. Ice maker quit working 2. Freezer constantly loses it''s freeze ruining all the food in the freezer 3. Vegetable and fruit crispers fill with water 4. Gasket seal needed replaced twice due to poor design Through out all this time, Samsung refused to replace it until after the 7th service call, and then decided that 8 months of owning the fridge was close enough to the one year warranty that they didn''t need to honor it anymore. After 4 more months of literally calling everyday and demanding they honor their own warranty (even after being provided proof of when the unit was purchased) they finally decided that I physically had to mail in the severed cord of the unit and they would issue a refund after 6 weeks. This was so to make sure it was actually no longer working and that I wasn''t using just pocketing the money. Now, 6 weeks later without a fridge they decide that they will replace the unit outright but refused because it was damaged...specifically sending me a letter stating the reason it was probably broken was because the power cord was duh Sherlock! After literally calling in multiple times a day and demanding money for my fridge they finally sent me a check for a partial amount of the fridge. Worst quality fridge I have ever purchased, worst customer service from a company I have ever dealt with. After this experience I replaced my Samsung phone and TV. Please please please buy a GE, Whirlpool, your food in the snow. Anything other than a Samsung fridge. I do my best to let everyone looking at a Samsung to know my experience and have successfully stopped about 6 people from buying one.
