I bought two of these to control exterior lights and have been very happy with them. I especially like the battery power which preserves both the date/time and programming settings even if main AC power fails. The programing is fairly easy and the astronomic mode (with auto daylight savings time) is great - never have to adjust for changing sunset times and you can combine specific on/off times with dawn/dusk options. As is often the case the instructions that come with the switch are not as clearly written as they could be. I recommend watching https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=XCUtMHI7Lnc which gives a very clear, step-by-step demo of how to program the switch (this video is for Intermatic''s ST01 switch but it''s essentially identical to the E1600). The only other slight negative is that removing the battery case can be a bit tricky. I used a very small head screwdriver (akin to a jewelers tool) to unlatch it and that seemed to work well in both cases. As that lithium battery (provided with the switch) lasts for 2-3 years, you only have to do this rarely though.
How would you rank the quality of instructions and ease of installation/set-up?
