Monorail lighting is a form of track lighting that suspends the track rail down from the ceiling to give the fixture a modern, almost floating appearance. Of course monorail lighting does offer the advantages of flexible and interchangeable heads and pendants in the same way that other track systems do. However, it allows you even more control of what areas to illuminate or highlight as the length of the downrod supports used lets you specify the exact height and location of your lighting. This style of mounting and the versatile track itself are the two factors which differentiate monorail light systems from other types of track lighting
Not only can you customize the lamps and height of a monorail fixture, you can also create whatever size and shape of tracks is needed. There are a wide range of monorail tracks and rails to choose from, including straight, curved, or bendable tracks that can meet the needs of any space. Most monorail tracks are even able to be joined with connectors to create custom fixtures out of multiple segments of differently shaped track.
All of these variations of rails are also available in the most common hardware finishes such as nickel, bronze, and chrome, making it easy to coordinate your lighting with the rest of the hardware in your space. So between all of these adjustable and customizable features, no matter what size or style of space you need to light, monorail lighting can be the ideal solution.
When creating a particularly large monorail system, keep in mind that you will need to include transformers that have a maximum wattage that is greater than the total wattage of whatever lighting heads or pendants that you mount on it.
