We wanted to use it for the front door but like most front doors there is a trim that outlines the door wall. This lock works well if the the door and the wall are the same and there is no protruding trim.
I would have loved to have been able use this product. However, it doesn't work if you have custom jams on your doors. I had been concerned with the issue that my door opens out, prior to purchasing it, so I asked and was assured it worked either way, but it didn't. I had a contractor look at it to see if he could find a way to install it, but he concurred that it was impossible for it to work on my door. It looks good and is inconspicuous as a secondary security lock (specifically for small children). If you place it at the top of your door, the little ones won't be able to reach it and it is not as noticeable or bulky, as most other locks.

Yes it works, but not with my Mom

The lock works just fine, but I got it to keep my Mom who has dementia from getting out and wandering. After about a week she figured it out so it didn't work for me. Some one told me to put it up higher but then I wouldn't be able to use it. The answer was a new lock that works with my thumb print. A lot more expensive but it works for me.
I first saw these sort of locks in a daycare facility, but they are very good for added home security as well. I have one on my French door (where someone could easily break the glass and unlock the the regular door lock) this little lock is hard to maneuver unless you''re right in front of it.
