We love the modern look of this fixture. The light comes through the black fabric shade just enough to bring out its texture. Plenty of light comes from the top and bottom of the light, so the room never feels too dark. A number of down stems allows the fixture to be mounted at a variety of distances from the ceiling, though we found the shortest one to be perfect for use in our bedroom with 8-foot ceilings. The only reason this is rated 4 stars instead of 5 is a tricky installation which made it difficult to secure the decorative screw caps that attach the fixture to the mounting bracket. A couple of small nuts to hold the screws in place is all that is needed to fix the problem, but they aren''t included in the box. Otherwise, installation was straightforward. We would definitely buy this again!

Bought 3 of these, Overall very pleased, but two big problems, 100 watt bulbs will melt the bottom plastic lens, The original zip cord that was part of the light was defective. With zip cord you need to be able to pull apart the two conductors i.e. the live wire and the neutral wire. With this zip cord you were more likely to pull the insulation off the conductor leaving it bare than you were to pull the two apart. ( the insulation was too thick between the wires) The third light I ordered seemed to have a different zip cord. The first one worked but I ended up with a short cord by the time I figured out the insulation was striping away from the conductor when I pulled the two apart.
