This Hubbardton Forge double shade pendant is offered in a natural iron finish. Features natural linen inner shade(s). Features natural anna outer shade(s). Requires three 100-watt frosted incandescent bulbs. Part of the Exos collection.
Adjustable pendant with double drum shades and a concave bottom diffuser that yields soft, comfortable downlight.
Slope ceiling adaptable to 45 degrees.
Provided with adjustable stem and round canopy kit.
This lighting appliance is well designed and very aesteic, but has two drawbacks. First, the double shade design tends to produce a dark band on the outer shade when lit where it overlaps the inner shade (top two inches of outer shade is brighter than the rest). Also, to change the bulbs you need to remove the outer shade AND the support structure for the outer shade, which requires lifting the structure up and to the side. If this pendant is in an area that does not allow for the person performing the maintenance to be over the light, it is akward to remove the shade and then push up on the fixture, and difficult to realign the fixture when putting it back together (you are effectively blind to the three posts on the top that need to be aligned). This is potentially dangerous if you are on a ladder that does not put you above the top shade to view the alignment. I recommend using very long life bulbs/CFLs/LED to reduce the number of times you need to change the lights.
