Excellent Quality for the Price
By Anna L. from Cape Cod, MA on Jun 27, 2015
I needed 50 knobs for a new kitchen, so this price point was very attractive. When received I was very impressed with the quality, equivalent to others 3x the price! This is a beautiful, hefty knob designed with a small pin on the back to lock it in place; each knob also includes a washer and two different length screws. The back of the knob is smooth, round and solid (not hollow/concave like others) and for the Large size I ordered, there is plenty of room behind it for your fingers.
Some things you should know: -Highlander is a Celtic knot pattern. The way the 4 knots intersect, the pattern is not symmetrical if you mount the knob in a + position, only when oriented as an x. -The knobs are threaded 3/8" deep (you want the screw to go in at least 1/4"). You are likely putting a cabinet screw through either a 3/4" door stile or a false front drawer (7/8" for recessed panel or 1-3/8" raised panel). Some of the screws I received were 3/4" and some 1", along with a longer 1.5". None of these lengths fit right so I ended up having to countersink every one of my 50 knobs (with a 1/2" coring bit to accommodate the washer). I''m an accomplished woodworker, but I found this a bit tedious.
Overall my Weathered Brass knobs were an excellent value and matched other antique brass and Celtic motifs in my home. The locking pin with washer are above average for cabinet hardware and shouldn''t ever need tightening.
