Ok It is hard to get excited about grab bars. This one looks good, with a number of color options. So, If you need them, and we all wish we didn't. But, Part of the aging process. This product seems to be well made. No issues there. Installation was relatively easy. Find a stud for the vertical leg... Probably will need a few dry wall anchors for the horizontal leg. (Available at most hardware/big box stores) Took about 1 hour for the project, as I had SS screws, Anchors, Etc in the garage. Definitely would order again.
This grab bar was just installed today. First of all, trying to figure out whether to order a right hand or left hand L was time consuming and uncertain. Go to the manufacturer's web site for help. Generally, the "handedness" is where the fasteners are. Putting it up was difficult, and the directions are general for the whole product line and not very detailed. The fasteners which were included were not applicable to my installation, so I had to purchase different fasteners. The wall mount at the bottom of the upright bar does not fasten to the bar quite right, and the threads, which are black, are a little bit exposed. For a product this expensive, which was purchased for appearance, that's not good. My contractor and I couldn't see any way to get that portion hidden; perhaps better assembly directions would have helped. I don't know if it's a design defect, a manufacturing defect, or an installation issue. I haven't used it, so I don't know how the finish will stand up to wear and cleaning. I also purchased a sliding hand-held shower mount for this bar, and that went on easily and seems to be very functional. I couldn't find anything on the market I thought was as attractive as these Italian-designed products, so I'd purchase them again. If you can hire a professional who has had personal experience with them, I would suggest it.
