Recessed well lights are a type of landscape lighting that features a completely sealed housing which allows the base of the fixture to be buried or otherwise covered up almost entirely. This creates a minimalist sort of look with only the top lens of the lamp being visible above ground. This configuration means that well lights generally illuminate directly above them or feature a shield or louvers to direct the light sideways at an angle.

Well lights can be a great choice for landscaping and yard lighting because the recessed installation means that the light fixtures stays almost completely out of sight where they won’t interfere with the look of the space. In addition, recessed lights are a good selection when it comes to safety; because they are neatly tucked away below foot level, they aren’t a tripping hazard, even if placed along the edges of a pathway.

These fixtures come in a range of styles and finishes from basic black or sleek silver to matte bronze and shiny brass finishes; so no matter your taste, you can find lighting that complements any other outdoor hardware you may have. They also may feature other functional and aesthetic features such as a grill or grid to keep anything from damaging the glass, or a wide beveled rim to help keep any debris clear of the light.

When shopping for the ideal landscape lighting for your home or business, be sure to also check out our selection of LED well lights. Not only are these fixtures particularly energy efficient, they run on a low voltage which works well with solar power. So if desired, you can easily have all of your landscape lighting run completely separate from your home’s electrical system, which makes it easier on the environment and your electric bill.
