The fixture looks pretty in web browser but ugly once mounted. Two bulbs for a fixture of this size produce not enough light, there should be at least 3 bulbs. The mount is not quite flush - there is space left between the rim and the ceiling for dust to accumulate and also quite visible when looking from the side. A smaller $36 flush mount I bought for the kitchen looks better than this one.
I wanted a very wide, shallow flush mount ceiling fixture that would not be too obtrusive in my foyer to occasionally add brighter light. I have bronze wall sconces for decorative lighting. This fixture is perfect. It has a beautiful profile as seen while comming down the stairs into the foyer and harmonizes with the bronze wall sconces without visually competing with them. (note: this fixture is etched matt glass and plastic, not bronze) Two 23 watt CFL bulbs give a good brighter light effect in this 12 foot by 16 foot space.
Installs in a standard sized round or hex electrical box. For my thinner Pancake Box I needed to buy shorter mounting bolts which make installation difficult.
