Founded in 1977, Deltana is the architectural hardware manufacturer with a proven record for exceptional service and quality. Flush mounted bumpers are good solutions to suppressing the impact of a door to a wall.
With walls behind 10 doors needing protection in our new home, I ordered 4 alternative door stops to evaluate. We have solid core doors and lever handles, so the potential for damage was high, and the door stop effectiveness important. Unlike two of the alternatives, this Deltana WBC238U has a wide steel base plate behind the finished metal ring that spreads the impact load. Another alternative stop was 3x more expensive, but no better. I concluded that this Deltana piece was the best, and ordered nine more.
Since half of my walls have ceramic tile where the door stop must locate, I mounted each using two 3M Command Strips to hold the steel base plate. I tucked the pull tabs of the adhesive strips on top of the base plate, then installed the door stop over that for a clean look. No drilling and no fasteners. My experience with this mounting technique has shown it to be permanent for many years, yet perfectly removable, if needed.
The esthetics and performance have more than met my expectations. My wife even mentioned, unprompted, how nice and elegant these look. I made a few severe impact tests with the door handle, and everything stayed in place, absorbed the shock, and looks completely untouched. Good, high-quality door stop.
This bumper seems like a decent product, but the set screw is an odd size. I tried both SAE and metric hex wrenches and could not find the correct size to tighten the screw. Ended up cutting a notch in the head of the screw and using a flat screwdriver.
