We had a bathroom door that swung into a glass door. We tried the door stops that you slide on the hinge and that didn't really work. This floor door stop is very sturdy and mounts firmly to the floor. Now will have to add longer screws to bottom hinge to give support to hinge. By his door will not move past this door stop now!
No real complaints with this product. It fit the general hardware decor of this bathroom perfectly, and it works exactly as it should. The only reason I did not give it 5 stars was because I was not able to get an answer about my particular situation, and eventually had to proceed with the installation. This was intended to stop a door, and particularly its handle, from hitting a glass partition wall directly behind the door. The floor mounting surface is large format (18 x 30 inches) tile. The question was whether some kind of thin cushion was needed between the base of the stop and the tile to avoid cracking the tile if the stop was hit unusually hard and slightly flexed against the tile (kids are in this picture). I used silicone caulk to prevent water penetration through the tile, and made sure that I coated the bottom surface to provide a little cushion. I don''t know if this was necessary, and was also aware that a compressible layer of any kind might permit more flexing of the stop under a high load, and thus increase the risk of cracking the tile. So far (3 months of daily use, 2 adults and 4 children) everything is fine, but when there are concerns about cracking big tiles, I prefer to know what I am supposed to do before installation. The installation is simple, and somewhat to my surprise, the rubber snubber does not mar the off-white door.
This is a beautiful doorstop. If you don't want the traditional look of a door stop and are looking for a more contemporary feel, this is the door stop for you. It's sleek, modern, and it works beautifully. Just be aware that it has to be installed in the floor and not on the baseboard like a regular door stop.
