This Boxer Dog Door Knocker by Michael Healy has a bronze finish.
The Boxer Dog Knocker was designed by Michael Healy, an accomplished Rhode Island artisan known for his Unique Door Knockers. Michael has always enjoyed the company of dogs. His parents bought him his first dog, Champ, when he was ten years old. As a Boxer, Champ was a member of a unique lineage. The Boxer’s most ancient ancestor, the Molossian dog, was used by the ancient Assyrians as a war dog as far back as 2000 BC.
After centuries of breeding, the modern Boxer was used as a German police dog. When it was introduced in the United States in the early 20th century, the Boxer became an American household favorite, known for its intelligence and strength. Champ certainly exemplified these noble qualities and was Michael’s favorite childhood companion.
