Works long and hard

We purchased this to replace one that we previously had for 20 years it has been a outstanding deadbolt. One of the main reasons we bought it again then metal and shape of the deadbolt fit the wood that had been removed from our wood frame. However I was not unable to purchase these at a retail store I believe they have been discontinued.

Interlocking deadbolt

Had hoped it would be a drop-in replacement of existing lookalike deadbolt that had internal broken part. Deadbolt part matched screw holes and key tang from outside key (so I didn't have to replace original key) but the moving deadbolt pins were just enough different that they wouldn't mate with old fixed strike portion on the door frame. Replaced strike and luckily the screw patterns matched (although 2 fewer screw holes where they shortened up an edge to save money) but again was just enough off that the pins wouldn't engage. With a lot of fiddiling and shimming and some filing of the strike holes to help guide the entering pins I got it to work. Also did find that the internal mechanism must be pretty crude and rough since it tended to bind up requiring rocking the knob back and forth to get it to actuate.

The price was right but certainly not a sterling example of US manufacturing prowess from Granville Michigan from whence it came!

Cylinder Lock

Product works fine. It's useful if you have a French door or other type that will no longer lock.

Poor Design, Poor Choice
By from on Feb 08, 2011
Front key plate on outside of door is made from paper thin metal. I accidentally punctured it merely HAND TURNING the screws from the other side of the door, and I didn''t even get the plate snug to the door frame, which is a standard size and guaranteed to fit. Hardly a security feature. Someone could just pop it in w/ a screwdriver or quickly drill it out. Lowe''s does not have a very good selection of single cylinder dead bolts. Buy this product if you want a paper weight.
