ABOUT STEVEN GAMBREL
Steven Gambrel is the founder and president of S.R. Gambrel, Inc., an influential interior design firm specializing in residential and commercial commissions, as well as custom products and furnishings.
Having founded S.R. Gambrel, Inc. in 1996, only three years after earning a degree in architecture from the University of Virginia, Steven is recognized for his endless dedication to creating highly customized interiors and architectural details for each project. Whether designing a polished uptown duplex, a rambling country house or a weekend beach retreat, Steven serves the needs of each client with his passion for timeless, comfortable homes that take inspiration from specific architectural details near the location of each project. Steven subscribes to the importance of properly proportioned structures and details, accompanied by a carefully curated collection of vintage, antique and custom furniture of his own design.
Steven's projects in New York City, Aspen, Vail, Miami, Virginia, London, Zurich, and Hong Kong have earned him devoted clientele and features in the world’s leading publications, including World of Interiors, Architectural Digest, Town and Country, House Beautiful, New York Magazine, the New York Times and Elle Décor, and was most recently honored as one of "today's greatest talents in Architecture and Design" in Architectural Digest's AD 100.
S.R. Gambrel, Inc., is working on several large residential commissioned projects in Manhattan, the Hamptons, Chicago, Philadelphia and London. The firm has also been involved in both the architectural and interior design components of two restaurants in New York's West Village and the large-scale residential Watchcase Factory in Sag Harbor.
Along with the successful busy interior design business, S.R. Gambrel has had great success in the design of custom furnishings: a custom lighting collection with the Urban Electric Company, a custom accessories line with the Lacquer Company, a custom tile partnership with Waterworks known as Grove Brickworks, and founded a new custom furniture resource website called Dering Hall.
Some of Steven's work can be seen in his first book, "Time and Place," which was released by Abrams in March 2012, and is working on a second book with Rizzoli due for publication in 2018.
