ABOUT JOEL BARKLEY
Born in Chattanooga, Tennessee, Joel Barkley is an architect and watercolorist who brings a painterly approach to the composition of houses and gardens for the firm Ike Kligerman Barkley, along with his partners John Ike and Thomas A. Kligerman.
Joel earned a bachelor's degree at the Georgia Institute of Technology, a master's degree in architecture from Princeton University (where he was awarded a Thesis Prize), and also attended the Ecoles d'Art Americaines de Fontainebleau in France. Before assisting in the foundation of Ike Kligerman Barkley, Joel held positions at several prestigious firms including Skidmore, Owings & Merrill, Robert A.M. Stern Architects and Diller Scofidio + Renfro.
He also enjoys illustrating gardening books and maintains an organic garden in Bernardsville, New Jersey.
