ABOUT ALEXA HAMPTON
Alexa Hampton assumed ownership and design leadership of the world-famous firm Mark Hampton LLC in 1998, which was founded by her father in 1976. Since then, she has completed a wide range of designs for domestic and international projects, from New York City to Hangzhou, China, including apartments and large residential properties.
A perennial member of Architectural Digest's AD100, House Beautiful's Top Designer list and Elle Décor's A-List, Hampton’s work is classic yet eclectic and has been featured in many national and international shelter and design magazines over the years.
Ms. Hampton serves on the board of trustees for the New York School of Interior Design (NYSID), the New York Landmarks Conservancy and the Institute for Classical Architecture. She was one of three inaugural designers who launched Gilt Groupe's Gilt Home Design Boutiques, and serves on the design board of MyDeco.com. She was also a co-host on PBS' "Find" and was the only female cast member of "This Old House."
She has received honorary Ph.Ds from Moore College of Art & Design and NYSID, and has been awarded Cosmopolitan's Fun Fearless Female Award, the Connecticut Cottage & Gardens Design Innovator Award and the Hyland Award for Interior Design, among others.
Hampton has a growing stable of acclaimed products for the home, including her own furniture line for Hickory Chair Co., designs for Stark Carpet and lighting for Visual Comfort & Co.
She is also the author of The Language of Interior Design and Decorating in Detail, a contributing columnist for The Wall Street Journal and frequent lecturer with upcoming speaking engagements in the U.S. and abroad.
